Our Generation?!!......

As the cramps once said "You aint no punk you punk!"

haha, now if only someone could get that fucking message out to all those kids of our generation!! God damn, i aint exactly a 2000 kinda kid, and it's my dumb luck that i have to spend my teenage years stuck here, so starts my theory. Ya see, I here kids talkin' alot of crap about so-called 'punk' and 'rock' and 'metal', hell these fucking scene kids are putting all us old fashioned rockers outa business!!!

It seems to me that once upon a time we had music. i'm talking real music, stuff that rebelled against mainstream society, stuff that had parents in a spin and had the young girls ditching the pink and hoping a motorbike! So to see that artists like jerry lee lewis, iggy and the stooges, Sex Pistols, and Alice Cooper work so hard to make rock & roll all that it is, and now bands like kisschasey and fall out boy are calling themselves "punk' and 'indie'. I mean, c'mon! it really grinds my gears to say the least! Softcore vocals and whining guitar does NOT make indie! indie is Sonic Youth! And thrashing an electric whilst singing merrily into the mike aint punk you fuckers! The Buzzcocks, Ramones, X-Ray Spex, now THATS punk! am i the only one that gets pissed off when i walk down the street and see kids wearing those "i heart glam" T-shirts! oh please, if these kids knew the half of it... To see the music i love go down the drain is a painful site man!

Oh Oh, and another thing.. what's with this emo shit?! i mean, thats what is the biggest problem with the kids today! it's not so much the kids that call themselves 'emo', i mean, they don't bother me none, they kinda annoy me what with all that false depression and boppy thoughts of suicide shit, but besides that i just ignore them and pretend they aint there. it's everyone else, seems that people these days have no idea about the matter! In my town, if you like rock music and wear one ounce of black, your an 'emo'. and fuck, if your the least bit melanchollic or depressed, than it's also emo!

You know, the other day i was talking about Kurt Cobain at school, and some girl was like "Who?" so i explained about Nirvana, and how grunge was very dirty rock and mostly about being pissed off and depressed, and when i mentioned that Kurt killed himself the girl mumbles "pfft, emo".. what the fuck?!! emo is an invention of the 2000! being depressed or even suicidal does not make an emo, being goth does not make an emo although there is a fine line) and liking rock does not make an emo... the way i see it (and correct me if i'm wrong) emo tries to take all of these subjects and falsey immmitates them, they are in some aspects a sad cheap copy that doesn't quit suceed, but then again i'm no expert in the subject. as i said, i dont like em, don't hate em, i just hate kids that stereotype before knowing (yes, i know that sentance was slightly hypocritical, but it's all i can do to express my opinion).

i suppose i'm just against kids trying to bring back the olds and doing a half ass job of it. I mean, seriously, punk! punk is about distortion, anti politics, rebellion, and proving that you DONT have to be a musician to play guitar! there is no end to what i could write here, about all of it! the kids of this genoration are just really pissing me off! and all i can do to keep my sanity is to prey that it is simply this part of MElbourne that hosts this ugly sort of trend! God damn, these immitation rockers and rebels are just enough to make me laugh, or pull a kurt myself!

but, just to lighten the mood, i witnessed a very funny incedent the other day... whilst walking down the street, i had on a rolling stones tee, and since the movie is coming out ip suppose 'the stones are the word' anyway, this girl wearing a 'sonic the hedghog 'retro' 1993' tee comes up to me (by the way, since when is 1993 considered retro, my idea of retro is the 50's) and she say "Oh my god, i love the rolling stones! i cant get no sadisfaction! i can't get no sadisfaction!" i was mildly insulted and midly in hysterics, so i replied "Yeah, that mick jagger floats my boat baby" she looked kind of twisted "who the fuck is mick jagger?!" I laughed so hard my mascara nearly ran, i suppose i envy the who for there interperation of life in the 60's, and i hate them for never being able to actually see it "hope i die before i get old, talking bout my generation!"

Ever heard The Emo Song by Adam and Andrew? It pretty much sums up what Emo is, in a hilarious way.

Also, I own two retro Sonic shirts. One is awesome, but one uses the word "Rad," so I'm refusing to wear it. Not in public anyway...

God damn. That sounds exactly like a rant I would've had about three or four years ago. I think I just got too burnt out about what happened to punk. I don't know what happened to punk and I. We just sort of grew apart, but whenever I hear a Dead Kennedy's or Sex Pistols song I fall in love with it all over again.

It was also so tolling seeing all of these little princesses wearing pink Ramones t-shirts, but having never heard of them. I know that I've had a rant about that before.

Fuck, now I'm angry all over again. You're lucky that's what this site is before because I have so much repressed anger over what is happening to the raped and rotting carcass of punk these days. If I hear another 14 year old try and claim Good Charlotte or Avril Lavigne as punk acts then I'm going to try my luck and hope that it's admissible evidence in a murder case.

I'm personally of the opinion that punk was pretty lame in the first place (with a few exceptions) but I totally sympathise with the point about the dilution of a genre. The worst thing is that it happens to every genre. Take hip-hop. What started as an underground solidarity cry for impoverished blacks is now an excuse for rich black guys to show off their jewelry and objectify women.

Yeah, as if anyone needs an excuse to objectify women.
